Information

For Schools

We currently provide speech and language therapy and occupational therapy services in independent and local authority schools. Due to a national shortage of such services, schools and other educational settings are ‘buying in’ their own therapists to support children and young people with speech and language and occupational therapy needs. We can tailor make our services to meet your school's needs.

We have experience of working in nurseries, primary and secondary schools, special schools and colleges. Please feel free to contact us to discuss such a service.

For Parents

We offer assessments for children and young people with any type of speech, language and communication needs up to the age of 25 years. The appointment can take around 1 – 2.5 hours depending on the age of the child or young person and presenting concerns.

The assessment may include the following, depending on the age of the child

  • Parent consultation
  • Formal assessment using standardised tests
  • Informal assessments of receptive language, oral speech and expressive language
  • Informal assessment of play skills, depending on age
  • Feedback

Following the initial assessment, we will be able to recommend an appropriate course of intervention. Should speech therapy be recommended, we will do our best to find the most desirable time for the speech therapy sessions. Individual and group therapy is offered. Sometimes home programmes are appropriate and in such cases we will design a tailored therapy pack to include activities and resources designed to develop skills. In such cases we will take a monitoring role.

International

We are able to provide an international service in which a therapist or a multi-disciplinary team will be able to travel to your home and school in most places around the world.

We can provide initial assessments and then train adults who will be supporting the child with intervention in our absence. In such cases we will provide support on a regular basis to review progress and reassess targets.

Some of the services we can provide are:

  • Assessments and Support
  • Training programmes of school staff
  • Setting up therapy services in schools or hospitals
  • Specific intervention programmes in schools

Training

Training can be delivered to nurseries, schools, colleges, and parents. Training is essential for staff to be able to support children with speech, language and communication needs and occupational therapy needs. We are able to provide training that is tailored specifically to the requirements of each educational setting or group. Twilight sessions can also be offered.

Some examples of training sessions that we have provided are:

  • Supporting children in primary/secondary schools with speech, language and communication needs
